Our story

A Family Business

If you have ever had the opportunity to meet Dick Vinson he would have handed you his business card. The card has this photo on the front of Dick’s grandfather, Robert Vinson, driving his stagecoach around Flathead Lake, MT. The stagecoach was the first in that area in the late 1800s. Like his grandfather, Dick is a visionary and after a lifetime of businesses in Western and Central Montana he set out to the Bakken. At 77 years old, no oilfield experience, only his pickup, briefcase and flip phone in hand and no google to guide him, he leaned on his determination and ability to talk to anyone and everyone. He decided a flare gas recovery was the need to fill and ten + years later he has built a successful flare gas mitigation business. At 88 years young Dick is still spearheading his company and has brought in his wife and daughters to help with management. It is now a family affair.

MDS, Inc.’s business model is designed to make the gas recovery process effortless for your company. We mobilize our equipment and set up on-site at our expense. MDS, Inc. compiles the daily reports and sends you the statistics you need to meet your reporting requirements. You don’t have to deal with the expense of equipment, on site reporting, payroll, staff or maintenance. We do all of the work, in exchange for the gas.
What We Do
Montana Dakota Services, Inc. is a flare gas recovery operation which has established a team of dedicated mechanics and operators who maintain consistently high uptimes and maximize outputs for our fleet of Waukesha engines with Ariel compressors. Our goal is to allow you to safely and effortlessly meet ESG and NDIC standards.
